Notetaking functionality

I just read about Quotepad,a Windows program which will automatically take a note from highlighted text if hit Ctrl+Shift+Q.

I was wondering if there was a way to get a similar function with Tomboy notes, or if any other Linux program included this functionality? I can see how it would be dead useful, and the sort of thing which and advanced clipboard manager might handle automatically.

The only thing I've heard of is a Tomboy Extension for Firefox - but that's only if you're sending things from the web to Tomboy.
