Notetaking functionality

I just read about Quotepad,a Windows program which will automatically take a note from highlighted text if hit Ctrl+Shift+Q.

I was wondering if there was a way to get a similar function with Tomboy notes, or if any other Linux program included this functionality? I can see how it would be dead useful, and the sort of thing which and advanced clipboard manager might handle automatically.

The Opera browser has that functionality (ctrl+shift+c)with its built-in note panel, but of course, it only works in the browser.
