Dell with Ubuntu...

Hello! First post here. I'm relatively new to linux. I've been running Ubuntu Hardy (dual-boot, with a dying copy of Windows XP) for a couple months now on my laptop and enjoying it immensely. I'm looking into purchasing a new computer and was considering buying a Dell laptop with Ubuntu installed. There seem to be two choices, an Inspiron and an XPS. I was wondering if anybody had any experience (favorable or, more importantly, otherwise) with such systems from Dell...

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give!

I've never actually bought a laptop, but I just wanted to point out that Dell is not your only choice for a machine pre-installed with Linux. http://www.system76.com/ and http://eracks.com/ are official Canonical partners in the US. There are others in other countries. Tuxmobil has a global list of GNU/Linux laptop sellers. (Not all of these will be selling Ubuntu.)

Zareason is another one, and they offer a choice of upgrades upon purchase much in the way that Dell does.

No personal experience with Dell beyond Windows machines, I'm afraid.

I've only bought a set of those "powered by Ubuntu" badges from them, and not an actual computer, so not really. But that was pretty speedy, and they threw in an extra one, plus the reviews I've read were all pretty positive. I think they have a few links on their site.
