Fedora 11 is out!

Hey folks, just a heads up for the Fedora fans, 11 has been released as of Tuesday. Has anyone upgraded yet? Anyone interested?

There is a nice article on new features here: Top 10 Features of Fedora 11 Leonidas

Most notable to me include:

  • 20 Seconds Boot-up

  • ext 4 to be default file system

  • ability to import Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders (PST files) directly in Evolution.

  • support for Microsoft Exchange's MAPI protocol. This is the protocol that Microsoft Outlook uses to communicate with Exchange.

  • Support for multiple monitors and projectors

I'm a bit excited by the thought that one more M$ only protocol has been brought into the OSS fold. Since I don't keep up with Ubuntu at all, are these things already available?

I don't know about the MS protocol, since I don't have any use for it, but I'm loving ext4 in Ubuntu 9.04!

Evolution sounds interesting. I need something that can do that; I'd love to get rid of Microsoft apps completely, especially Office. Presently I have a dual boot XP/Ubuntu9.x box. I've only had Ubuntu for a couple of weeks, so I'm still sussing it out. I haven't tried Fedora, so I can't tell you how it compares.
