Thanks for all the help! The problem files aren't in /home, and both /tmp and var/log are using barely any space at all, so I think I'll get some meatspace help for this one. Thanks anyhow! I definitely learned a lot! (For one, how to use commands, which I'd been meaning to do for a while now anyhow.)
