Two Ubuntu Things

the Power User's Guide to Unity aggregates a LOT of tutorials. It makes me feel more hopeful, although I think I may not install 11.04 until, like, July

Ubuntu UK Podcast by the UK Loco is a lively and amusing discussion by people who dance on the line between power users and developers. They are in mid-season 3, and I highly recommend them.

And it is of course 11.10. I'm so good at numbers.

I really hesitate to move off the really simple, few clicks to update, Ubuntu track. I mostly like everything it has to offer. My panel app is the copy and paste special character pallet, but I expect something will be out there accessible from the Unity interface somehow, it's just way too handy.

I've heard a lot about the beta bugs this go, so I might wait a couple of weeks.

I expect that the move away from Unity is politics of some kind, and I stay away from all news of that in the tech world. Fandom Wank provides enough of that sort of thing.

I don't mind the look of Unity from some of the pages on your first link, but it's mostly not really important to me. I don't do much beyond play music and use Firefox, so I'm happy with something that works. If it draws people into using Ubuntu, I figure that's good, and maybe nVidia and a Logitech will start making Linux drivers for their stuff.
